Boy, Thou Glorious Shark of Heaven
Oct. 5th, 2009 12:20 amSo...the thing Cal is most obsessed with these days, amusingly enough, is Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. They have a "book" about it up at starfall.com, where he spends a lot of time--I think it might have reminded him of the fact that his first Little Einsteins DVD, Our Huge Adventure!, is mainly scored using the Ninth. It's become one of his "motivators", something he works towards at Surrey Place: Do three tasks, get to have the Suicide Scherzo put on, so you can jump around maniacally and pretend to conduct. I'm sure Alex DeLarge would approve, even though Cal's overall appetite for ultraviolence is sadly minimal.
Then again, he's also fallen in love with the Wiggles (inevitably). Particularly their track "The Shimmie Shimmie Shake", off You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, which--in addition--features the world's whitest interpretation of "Day-O". Remembering the dread with which other Moms used to talk about the Wiggles when Cal was younger, it's all I can do to keep from yelling: "My curse has come upon me!" and running aimlessly out into the wet streets, there to probably be hit by a truck.
But I did get some notes made, at least--442 words over yesterday and today. More to come tomorrow. I still think I can get through Sixteen pretty quick, if I try; more exposition, unfortunately. Damn that complex back-story!
