Q: How was Ad Astra, Gemma?

A: Good. Tiring. Not as drunken as it should have been, mainly due to baby-stress. Talked with a lot of people I wanted to, avoided others, networked. Read the first part of "The Speed...", and was reassured that even people who'd never read "The Emperor's Old Bones" could pretty much get what was going on. Then picked up Cal on Sunday, ate at the Barringers', came home. Oh, and I finished "The Speed..." last night, finally, so I'm waiting to hear back from the relevant sources.

Q: Are you glad you went?

A: To an extent, though the Dealers' Room was pretty dreadful aside from the Bakka table, and conversations with Stephen Jones reminded me that I have less than a month before World Horror Con. No pressure!

Q: Fannish stuff?

A: BSG (I swum against the stream [as ever] and found I actually liked "Maelstrom", mainly because Kara's been suicidal since the friggin' miniseries, and I also don't think learning to not be afraid of death is a minus, no matter the circumstances); Heroes (April 23rd? You bastards!); Prison Break (Michael, to Sarah and Lincoln: "I love you both"; thousands of shippers' heads explode simultaneously, on both sides of the divide). Sad to say I'm a bit off 24, but I know I'll catch up once they're not playing it against Heroes anymore.

Q: Now what?

A: School--still have once class to teach. No working out, unfortunately, since Barbra Barringer is looking after Cal, which means I have to be home ASAP. Steve has an event immediately after the event he's working right now, and he's knackered all the time. I know how he feels.

Q: Oh, okay. Ta.

A: Ta back.

Oh, no, no, no...short story, not book. Not yet, anyhow. But thanks for the congrats, nevertheless.;)

Ooops, sorry. Got the short confused with long. Still, it's nice to finish something.

Hey! We were in the dealer's room! We're not dreadful. Maybe evil but certainly not dreadful! ;)

Well, of course I didn't mean you! Guess I was just...expecting something else, or more, or what have you. But then again, at least I didn't spend a lot of money.

I have to admit, I'm having trouble parsing that sentence.

But frankly, I'm angry with Kara. Yes, she was pretty frakked up, but she still had mondo responsibilities all around her. Maybe this was the only way she could find some peace, but it was still a selfish act in my book.

But again, it was still a better episode than a lot of what's been going on in the third season.

Heroes (April 23rd? You bastards!)
Having mostly caught up on the story so far (thanks to the reruns on Global's website), I second this sentiment.
