Ah. And this is what happens when certain people (especially me) don't keep their big mouths shut.

Naturally, I'd hate to be hitherto known as the person who lost everybody else in the Serial Diners their regular Christmas Party, let alone Charlene, Hayden and Wesley's continuing company. I'll point out that my use of the phrase "We-Hate-Kids Christmas Party" was a miscalculated and slightly specious one, and that this phrase came from me rather than A) the people I was talking about or B) poor [livejournal.com profile] moon_custafer and [livejournal.com profile] green_trilobite. So I'm the real snarkess here, and I apologize.

Still, one thing we all really do know is true, whether or not we've actually processed it: The Diners, like most units composed of people who've been hanging arfound with each other for almost twenty years, are becoming more than slightly generationally polarized. Some of us paired up, some didn't; some got married, some didn't (and don't want to); some have kids, some don't (and never will). Coolio on all counts. But we can't ignore the fact that we're not all in quite the same quasi-dysfunctional boat anymore, and that's probably going to lead to changes. Some won't be fun, and some will be permanent, and such is life. Eventually, this thing will just putter on its merry way without any of us, be we founder, chronicler/chronicler's GF, or just some member who apparently can't shut the fuck up in public.

But none of this changes the fact that I'm very sorry that...partially because of MY big mouth...one of those changes appears to be a parting of the ways between Charlene, Hayden, Wesley and the Diners. Never my intention. Not at all.

To Gemma: I have no problem with your use of the phrase, We-Hate Kids party - indeed I have no problem with the concept and the idea. What I have problems with are:
1. The way in which the we-hate-kids-party was developed (of which you have NO part)
2. The "sick of hostess" comment, is not from you. It is a comment I find personally insulting, as well as insulting against the hospitality of my house and family (or which Wesley despite his age if a full member).

I hold you blameless, indeed I am grateful to you for bringing into the open something being whispered about behind my back.

Charlene

Well, I'm obviously happy to hear that, but...I'm still caught in the position of feeling like I've driven a public wedge between you guys and an entire organization, most of whom are similarly not at fault--including [livejournal.com profile] moon_custafer and [livejournal.com profile] green_trilobite. And for that, again, I apologize; I hope you can discuss this directly, and find some middle ground.

Pardon the paraphrase from Cato. I think I will get in the habit of adding it to the end of all my public statements.

Every word you type just makes it worse.

And live journal should be destroyed.

Nice how much I don't care, then, isn't it? Or is it only okay to speak roughly about people where other can hear it, rather than wite roughly where others can access it? I get so confused.

BTW, please don't feel you need to respond.

I don't think you suck at all!

You do not suck! Not sure if you got my e-mail or not. Anyway if you choose not to e-mail me back I understand as I know how truly busy you are.
