Words yesterday: Roughly 7,391.

Sections completed: Slightly more difficult to reckon with a treatment. I spent most of my time culling stuff that didn’t fit with current continuity and transferring it to another file (I’m thinking of making a short story out of a dead piece of subplot), writing hole-pluggers and shuffling the rest around to create a three-act spine. Fairly successful, though I think I still have some character-development tinkering to do, and there’s a million and a half more words of exposition than I need.

Words total: 9,308, two pages of breakdown, 21 pages of treatment.

Non-Writing-Related Work: Six more Fifth Term packages to process by Monday, then I pick up more; processed fifteen or so on Thursday/Friday. I also need to put together a BFI Modern Classics query letter and send it to the email [livejournal.com profile] agincourtgirl so wonderfully tracked down for me, respond to email from Dad, snail-mail a Christmas copy of The Worm… to Jill Cooper from CBC.com Words at Large (she asked for it), etc.

Darling du Jour: So hard to choose. Still, I’m cutting dialogue with a will, because MAN there’s some ripe fucking first draft shit stinking it up in here.

Tyop du Jour: The thing I seem to be doing most often, top-list, is reversing the middle and ends of words, creating amazing front-to-back hybrids: "amnesia"/"mnesiam", et al. My pattern is to write a sentence, then immediately click back and fix it before going on to the next. Maybe it’s adult-onset dyslexia.

Mean Things: Lilim’s an intimately-staged, low-budget, early-Cronenbergian-style horror movie. There’s nothing BUT mean things.

Reasons for stopping: I looked up, and suddenly it was 2:45 A.M.

Coffee?: Two cups with breakfast, both days.

Food: Sunset Grill in the morning(s), recycled Spring Rolls at night, plus ice cream, toast. Tried to keep more hydrated than usual.

Exercise: BodyFlow on Saturday, two miles on the treadmill today (5.0 incline, moving back and forth between 3.9 and 3.6 speed every three minutes), yoga poses for stretch-out after.
Bodily issues: Incredible bursts of flatulence and gas pain/diarrhea all day Friday, which I put down to having eaten edamame and sushi on Thursday; I just don’t know what the hell else might apply. It’s been getting better since, thank Christ.

Cal report: Jumpy, shrieky, experimenting with language like whoah. Today, at Mass, Steve says he said: "Ameh’" (ie, "Amen"). Also a bag of trouble, but at least not sick, so off to Daycare on Monday. We’ll see how that goes.

Other: Mom just filmed a lifetime TVM with Mia Kirschner, and told the director about my writing; he seemed weirdly interested, said he’d make contact. I’m therefore amusing myself trying to sketch out Lifetime-ready pitch paragraphs: Female main characters (check), light mystery/thriller/supernatural trappings (can do), some sort of "romance" subplot (ah, there’s the rub). Since she gave Mia her call-sheet, which had all the relevant production stats on it, I think I’ll just look it up on the imdb and see what I can find in terms of career background/contact info for this guy. In other news, lululemon Athletica Eaton’s Centre apparently has new clothes in, in colors such as Scab, Garbage Bag, Heavy Metal, Concrete, Turnip and Pig.

Books in progress: Finished The Keeper, and thought: I want that lady’s agent. Next up, the Beautiful Cigar Girl, Lisey’s Story, Sharp Objects, The Thirteenth Tale.

TV: No Battlestar, so nada. And just as well.

Movies: Casino Royale tonight, hopefully.

Music: Pod. Most recently, "The Parting Glass", Sinead O’Connor.

The New Shit: Today I said to Steve, "how about for 2007, we at least write down every idea we have?" Which is why we’re going to spend a bit of time tonight roughing out a pitch for a TVM or low-budget Urban based on the 22-marijuana-grow-ops-in-one-building case that headlined Friday’s news. It’s hip, young, Torontonian to the max, socially relevant…like New Jack City, except with weed. But the concept alone’s not enough, the trick is to attach actual characters to it—luckily enough, something Steve and I can definitely do, which is why if I had a production company and an in at CBC, man, I’d be all over that puppy.;) But it’s practice, if nothing else—-not to mention a lecture in the making. Like, don’t give me that "writer’s block" shit, kiddies: Here’s all six Metro papers, you’ve got an hour, then pitch me five things. Oh, they’d REALLY love me then.

And so, adieux.
