So yes, I somehow have to get Richard Stanley to talk to me (at least a little bit). I have a number for him, so that'll be easier than it otherwise might be--indeed, the problem may well be getting him to shut up, as much as thinking up interesting and fresh new questions about something he's probably pretty friggin' sick of talking about. And it's 800 wds, and it's due for the 15th, but I'd probably better get a first draft in faster. And it's already the 12th.

Okay. Otherwise: Bought a new watch, bled, felt like shit most of the day, didn't take a bath, did lots of chores, watched Cal act like a bug in a jar. Last night we watched Lucky McKee's The Woods, which plays like Suspiria by way of A Summer Place and is (to my mind) shaky on mythology, but quite startlingly good overall. Tonight it was Lost, meanwhile, and I find myself becoming less and less patient with the Others half of things...I just want to fast-forward through all the Pavlovian mindgames and intensely boring smugness to the part where they actually explain what the FUCK it is they think they're doing all this for, so Jack et al can tell them to go screw themselves. So I mainly sit there gritting: "Get to it, get to it, get to it...", which I'm sure Steve finds as annoying as I do this subplot. At least next week seems to be about something genuine, ie Locke (and possibly Mistah Eko). After that, I'll start picking and choosing, and use Others-heavy ep.s to get real work done.

In other news, still loving Heroes. Still don't find it slow, badly-written or boring. Still don't hate Milo Whatsisfuck. Still wondering if I should hang up my geek hat now.

I finally watched CSI last night. The killer's methods were so over-the-top theatrical (killing people in various gruesome ways that alluded to greek mythology and then dressing the bodies in t-shirts beaing complex graphic designs containing codes and anagrams and stuff) that I was sure it was going to be one of those plots where the murderer actually has some really mundane and obvious reason to want one person dead, so s/he hides them in a forest of fake serial killings; but it turned out to be somebody with a specific revenge list and too many viewings of Roger Corman's Theatre of Blood (ok, that last part is just my theory).

Yeah, that and he was also Edward Furlong, and he looked like complete crap. Which kept throwing me off in a completely different way.
