It Never Rains

My Mom and I have a shared saying: "Energy creates energy." When you're in a longish, slackish period during which nobody seems to know you're alive anymore, sometimes the best of all possible solutions seems to be to just keep on working, producing, throwing stuff out into the ether. Do that long enough, and it will come back to you; that first response will breed more, and more, and more. Sort of the old "It never rains..." syndrome, except not as depressing, because this is the sort of downpour you want to get caught in. And that's how things are for me right now, Thank Christ.
Email to answer. A novel to pitch, necessitating revisions and reworking of the basic idea which have already made it clearer/better and easier to express. Stories solicited. Screenplays on ther verge of option. By Night goes into production next week, literally--they start shooting on Thursday, in Peterborough. Which means that my director is suddenly phoning me with a note of panic in his voice, desperate for last-second rewrites...but, ya know? That's okay. Just the sort of "annoyance" which sets my toes a-tappin'.
In other news, Cal is doing well--today, he correctly identified a picture of a bowl and said, fairly clearly: "Bo'." OTOH, the strain I dealt my Achilles tendon last Friday is still lingering on. To promote healing, I made today a dark day for exercise, and have decided to stay off machines for another week or so (just yoga, BodyFlow, weights, etc.). It's humid and shitty in T.O., which isn't helping my sinuses, and I also have more than ten capsule book reviews to do for Rue Morgue, queries to send out, all that. Energy to keep flowing.
I feel good, though. Actually, I feel pretty fucking great.;)
