The Next Thing, And The Next Thing
Jun. 19th, 2013 11:54 amFor those who are interested, I finished "His Face, All Red" yesterday and sent it off to the wonderfully-named Tramps, Stamps & Vamps. Hopefully it'll meet their needs, and though it's definitely not "short" per se--12,500+, by the end--I really did warn them that was how it would turn out, if I committed to it. At any rate: Done.
Still insanely tired, pretty much all the time. I was running on two days of getting to sleep by 5:00 AM and then having to get up at 9:00 AM when I got home, and for the first day, all that changed was suddenly I could sleep in. Last night I got to sleep at 3:00 AM, which is a definite improvement, then slept long enough to get eight hours. But I'm still stupid, yawning, and finding it very difficult to focus my eyes, so that's not good. I'll work out tonight, God and Steve's job willing; maybe that'll help.
Today's task is to finish a bit of (professional, paid) feedback that's due by the 20th, as well as shuffling my To Do list and entering new notes on the last of three Hexslinger short stories I need to have done for October, when they start to put together the "Merry Hexmas" omnibus e-book of the whole series. The first, "Like A Bowl of Fire", has been done since last year; the second, "In Scalet Town (Today)", just needs a good, hard push to put it over the top, since I know exactly what's supposed to happen. This new one is a bit of a mystery, in that I don't even have a title yet, but I know it's going to involve Chess, Yancey and Ed, Christmas on the prairie, and the fact that Yancey is pregnant...which, yeah yeah, is a bit of a cliche when it comes to female characters, but let's face it: they've been doing it all up and down for some time now, probably only using the pull-out method, so seriously, I'm kind of surprised it didn't happen earlier. (I don't think they ever get married, though, in the traditional sense. Yancey probably has a bit of a thing about weddings.)
Anyhow, God: 1:00 PM, and I still can't stay awake. Coffee, stat.
