My in-laws came over today, which eventually led to a nice dinner out plus two martinis, and now...hours later...I'm still feeling the after-effects. Still, it was cool to see them react to Cal, if a bit sad when he inevitably played strange because he hasn't seen them for almost two months. Maybe it won't be so long between visits, next time.

And also: Yes, I’ve done some more defriending, though I hope nobody who made the list will take this as a cue to not consider me their friend (virtual or RL) anymore. It’s just that my Friends page has become remarkably unwieldy over the last little while, often necessitating skipping +40 daily in order to "keep up". More time-management impulses on my part, especially since I’m so close to finally being done with "Spectral Evidence"--one more polish, following Steve's kind preliminary edit, and we're basically home-free (not to mention safely under 4,000 words!). No, I didn’t manage to crack it over the weekend after all, but that might well have been because I kept watching movies and then just falling asleep. Dumb, vacation-havin’ me.;)

Good professional news today, meanwhile: "Dead Voices on Air" was accepted by the person who commissioned it (not a paying venue, but a credit, which is always nice—and BTW, [livejournal.com profile] moon_custafer, they haven’t mentioned wanting a rewrite, so I think I’m just going to let that one slide; thanks for the input, though). Bad news: Apex turned down "Every Angel", so it’s back on the market. Any advice re who I might show it to next would be very much appreciated…maybe Horror Garage, if they’re taking fiction again? I’m pretty behind/out of the loop on this stuff, having had my head up a little boy’s ass for a year or so.

Not to mention that last night was the first new episode of Prison Break in four fuckin’ months…yeah, seeing that down in print everywhere sort of amazed me, too…and things seem to be back on track. On the one hand, this "every episode ends on a cliffhanger" thing can make you want to punch the showrunners in the head; on the other, it makes for palpably exciting TV. So we’re back to the old familiar internal litany, like "Just what the hell is Boss Bellick’s problem, anyhow?" and "Way to make an already-complicated thing fifty thousand times more complicated, Michael". Ah, it's like a long-wanted reunion with an old friend, except far prettier, and much less plausible.

Okay, back to the john, then bed. Tomorrow we polish, file, print out, and pick something else to commit to.
