Today Cal's at St. Joe's, hopefully in a far better mood than he was last night. What's been going on is that every evening since Hallowe'en, he's suddenly just been crazily oppositional about going to sleep. The routine is that once sent to bed, he stays up, bouncing and shrieking, opening the door over and over and flicking the hall light on, 'till we finally break down and yell at him, making him cry hysterically until he passes out. This is not a good pattern, and not a routine I'm in favour of establishing. (I also get that yelling at a little ASD boy until he cries is not good tactics generally, which is why I'm bound and determined to find a way to get past this ASAP.)

It's compounded by the fact that when he does fall asleep at last, he inevitably pees himself, thus putting paid to the carefully-nurtured continence we've been working on so steadily over the last year or so. Still, staying dry when deeply asleep is difficult; I'm more threatened by what happened on Tuesday night, which was that he asked to do Starfall on my computer, so I started having a much-needed bath, and when Steve came home I told him to take him off; Steve didn't, and when we went to get him ready for his swimming lesson we discovered that Cal had obviously gotten so distracted he'd pissed his pants (and my chair) and then just sat there in it, laughing stupidly and making cartoon noises, for upwards of half an hour.

All this probably also explains why, when I went back to bed this morning, I had five equally horrible nightmares in a row. That I didn't wake up for an hour anyhow probably means I probably needed the sleep, but...unpleasant.

So: Yesterday, in and between working on what I thought was Chapter Eight, I did lots of structural fiddling on the TOC for "Savage Weapons". This explains how I figured out that Chapter "Eight" is actually Chapter Nine, but since I'm working on it anyways, I think I'll just keep going. I also made a lot of inroads into the structural plan for Book Three, which is called "The Sixth World". This is basically all one massive, cinematic battle sequence that spins crazily from character POV to character POV, then climaxes and moves into a bunch of headlines which establish the shake-down from the Hex War, followed by a two-part Epilogue. I'm finally getting almost as excited as I am terrified, which I guess is good.;)

Okay, back at it...

Also hugs. No-sleep is no fun for anyone involved.
