Still moving forward, which is good. I think, in the interest of not boring the fuck out of people, I will hitherto cease to talk about the book unless I run into a rut again. Maybe not even then.;) (Metrics will still go up on Twitter/Facebook, for those who are interested.)

Otherwise, this week thus far has been about making notes on stuff I want to pick up (Nikita Season One, The Borgias Season One, the new Criterion version of Jean Cocteau's Orpheus, probably Trollhunter) and upcoming films I'd like to see (Apollo 18, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, The Ward, etc.). I've also been forced to admit the fact that my eyes have once more apparently moved out of true, which means I'm going to have to get a new prescription and new lenses--my right, as ever, is the culprit, now having degenerated enough that I can reckon a very "visible" difference between it and my left even when I'm only a foot and a half away from my laptop screen. Man, it sucks being over forty!

I also need to upgrade my horror movies filing system to maybe two large sleeves, rather than one. It's scary to think how many of these films I possess , but at least I'm actually watching some of them, these days. Rather than poring through them, thinking up ever-more-clever double features to shuffle them into, I mean.

Oh, and yesterday I found the entire Season Two of Durham County second hand, for $14.95. So that goes on the to-view pile, along with the rest of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, et al. Because I need to be doing something late at night, when I can neither sleep nor write.

Okay: Back to the grind. Today's goal is to crack 500, possibly 1,000, and I'm at least starting earlier than usual. We'll see.

Amended to add: In slightly less incredibly self-obsessed news, I finally managed to get my ass in gear re registering Cal for Adapted and Integrated Services this year. Actual registration doesn't start until September 14, but I now know the family account number and customer pin number combination, that I should register him for a support worker just in case, and that I need to fill out/send off the physical form ASAP. This will no doubt provide me with an equally good reason to get in touch with St. Joseph's, his new school, and pin down the deets about next week's bus schedule et al.

This'll make Mom happy, and probably make Cal happ(ier) as well. He's a very active dude these days, far more agile, strong and physically deft than ever before--I've definitely confirmed that he can now climb up far enough to turn his lamp on, for example, as well as being able to retrieve stuff I put up "too high" for him to reach--so putting him in a couple of programs where other people can run him into the ground a few times a week would be very worth my and Steve's time.

Hmmm. This trick of going through my music by track-listing rather than artist is paying off...it's almost like shuffling, but less random and annoying. (Katy Perry aside--but then, if I didn't want to listen to her at all, she wouldn't be there in the first place.)

And you should have! I went looking for my crappy videotape of it last night, just to tide myself over, and couldn't find it, hilariously enough.;) But like i was telling Steve: "Sometimes you need to re-orient your brain, the same way Mom thinks doing Sudoku will keep her from going senile. And for me, that's when I pull out stuff like Orpheus, or Solaris, or Wings of Desire...the very antithesis of Hollywood storytelling."
