Teeth, And After

So...if you've been wondering WTF happened to me, it's pretty simple: I've been A) writing and then immediately re-writing, which is good overall, though slightly retardant to genuine forward motion, and B) dealing with, as ever, lots of other RL shit. Chief for the last couple of days has been Cal's first true dental trauma--I had to take him in to get two teeth pulled in order to make room for his second front bottom tooth, which was coming in sideways and snaggled, to straighten out to fit the space. Guess we'll see if that works...
He wasn't too bad about it, really, though we did have a winning combination of freakouts about no being able to eat crunchy food (the backbone of his diet) and steadily increasing wackiness for most of yesterday. Today, meanwhile, I've broken all my rules: Given him ice cream, let him watch Treehouse TV pretty much since 9:00 AM. Stuff goes back to normal tomorrow, which he probably won't like much, but--eh.
And otherwise, it's been boring/crazycakes, as ever. I watched the original Dawn of the Dead at one point. Suffered through a long-awaited period that solved only some of my problems. Tonight I go read in Guelph, then turn around and come back immediately. I didn't feel the earthquake, and probably won't see much of the hurricane. Should have an interesting conversation with people in the L.A. area-code that I can't talk much about on Friday. I feel crunchy and stinky and spread very thin.
Same as it ever was, in other words.

Date: 2011-08-25 01:54 am (UTC)Mine was pretty good about tying unusual rules breakage to unusual suffering (i.e. removal of teeth as above, or high fevers & illness). I was told by a few parents that this would lead him to expect to be spoiled rotten when life was tough, but *I* spoil myself when things are hugely horrible/stressful, so. Well.
