That's what I am today, apparently. Because...my first royalty cheque for A Book of Tongues just came, and holy shit: Without getting specific, this is more than I've been paid for anything since those halcyon days of yore when The Hunger wanted my stuff. And the numbers leading to those numbers are almost as sweet--wow, a lot of people have been investing in blood-drunk gay porno horse opera lately. With more, hopefully, to come.;)
It's a good time for it, one way or the other, since it should provide the necessary ass-kick to get me out the back of "[Anasazi]" and on to the Chapter Nine finish-line. Then Ten, Eleven, Thirteen, etc....
I have 'til the end of November now, which helps. I get the feeling I'm gonna need all of it.
Also: Steve and I are up for another award, here (http://time-shark.livejournal.com/405906.html). Exciting! I'm already crossing my fingers that Uncle Stevie isn't in the running for this one, too.;))
Otherwise: A day of errands. Got a filling, got copies of Cal's inoculation records, got Book Three of A:TLA ("Fire"), plus a copy of The Objective, that Iraq war horror movie we were all talking about not so long ago. Going to see Scott Pilgrim tomorrow night, probably. And tonight I'm going to slam down hard on "[Ansazi]", which pretty much requires just a good, hard push to be piecemealed together into basic working order. Then a bit of a polish, and off to its intended recipients.
Finally, kassrachel has a beautifully-worded plea for "generous listening" over here (http://kassrachel.livejournal.com/837272.html?#cutid1). God knows, I've been guilty of not doing that, over and over and over--like everybody else in the world, I guess. But it's nice to hear this ideal of dialogue laid out as a thesis so politely and respectfully, with everyone commenting on it in much the same way (thus far).
