All night long, I dreamed about Inception, which I haven't yet seen. Some of the dreams definitely spun off of spoilers I've narrowly missed or ideas I got from "listening" to people talk about it; in most cases, the dream-world of my dream was far more Satoshi Kon than Christopher Nolan, which makes sense. And then there were moments where I suddenly found myself doing "normal" dream-stuff, like moving into a different house with Cal (Steve was nowhere to be found), or somehow ending up on So You Think You Can Dance, though I didn't seem to have developed any more skillz than usual. I was just on the verge of saying: But this is a DREAM, idiot, you can do anything... when I finally woke up, with a massive crick in my neck.

And now I need to figure out what exactly I can do on the 'bout-to-die computer, in order to move at least slightly forward. A weird start to a no-doubt weird day.

You too, eh? I've been having the same sort of dreams recently. And I haven't seen the movie either. Bloody lunatic, it is. Makes one suspect the existence of a magnetic brain-storm at night, it does.

The eeries swiftness with which the movie seems to have infiltrated public consciousness probably has a lot to do with it. I mean, the Friday it opened it was just another film; by Monday it'd become either the best or worst movie EVAR, with scores of people apparently willing to cut a bitch long-distance to defend or maim its honor. At this rate, by the time I finally do see it, it can't help but be entirely disappointing.

I'm sure of it. DiCaprio to begin with, and while he did redeem himself in broad strokes with Catch Me if You Can, I'm still already expecting better things, which I'm told he does not deliver. But the real fun will be taking the 80-year-old Titanic-loving MIL out to see it and then asking her what happened.

Am I cruel? No, just being scientific. Heh.

Well, if you're genuinely expecting a man of thirty-plus to look like he did when he was seventeen... {shrugs}

I'm not unsatisfied by what I've seen DiCaprio do as an adult, by a long shot. His work in The Departed and Shutter Island is mature and gorgeous, IMNSHO; then again, I'm a big fan of what he does in Gangs, which I know is the exception rather than the rule. But then again, I'm a big fan of Gangs, generally, and I don't see him as Leo in that at all, just Amsterdam.

I think I'm aided in this by never having given a shit about him as a kid--Titanic bored me, causing me to sort of skip over him until he finally turned up in something I liked. As opposed to Kate Winslet...but then again, she was already coming off of Heavenly Creatures, so I cut her some slack.;))
