O Flist

For mysterious reasons (PR and marketing), I need to quickly compare my writing/A Book of Tongues to a bunch of reasonably current titles by famous authors--ie, stuff you could find on Amazon.com. Here's what I've got so far: Devil's Tower and Devil's Engine by Mark Sumner and Territory by Emma Bull (content and setting); As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann (historical gay bad romance of the Lady Gaga variety between two equally difficult dudes); Servant of the Underworld: Book One in the Obsidian and Blood Trilogy by Aliette de Bodard, which is a soon-to-be-released mystery set in the Aztec Empire but does seem to involve magic (and I love her short fiction).

Anybody? Bueller?

I'm no help; for me your book was mindblowingly unique. Hope you get some good suggestions, though--and Aliette's soon-to-be-released series sounds cool.

"Bad Romance" is such an earworm. I woke up with it stuck in my head this morning.

I've never read it, so maybe I'm waaaay off base. Dark Tower?

I agree though. Your book is very, very unique.
