It's Late

...and I'm going to have to get up at 6:00 AM tomorrow in order to pick Mom up at the Clinic, then run her to her place, get her settled in and hand her over to my mother-in-law so I can run over to school, pick up Cal and ferry him to Surrey Place. Later, I'll pick him up from Surrey Place, then take him back to her place but keep him away from her (she'll probably be asleep) until Steve can come and pick him up after work. I'll stay overnight, Steve will take Cal to Surrey Place in the morning, lather rinse repeat--oh, and I'll have to leave a bit early to pick Cal up at Surrey Place because on Wednesday at 1:00 PM I'm scheduled to see Dr Mahoney about my boobs for the first time in a month. But then Thursday takes us to almost half a week after the procedure, and hopefully she'll be pretty much able to negotiate herself around, after that. Man, I sure do suck at this whole "dutiful daughter" thing, don't I?

Otherwise: Saw the Book of Tongues cover flat today (gorgeous), as well as the cover for Best Horror 2, which looks like a cross between Durer and Goya. Oh, and kind people apparently pre-ordered over fifty of those expensive hardbacks, which makes me feel all warm inside. I'd like to be further ahead on Chapter Two overall, but these things certainly help.

Tonight's episode of Heroes, meanwhile, brang the crack so hard and fast that (much like that grad party at the start of Ghost World) it sort of broke through bad into good and then back into bad again. I really loved that nothing "new" we learned about Mister Bennett was A) a surprise or B) made any effect on Claire's very smart decision to accept that her Dad's a ruthless dude who loves her unwisely but completely, whereas Samuel is a sweet-talkin' douchebag with a nail polish addiction. And how about that Peter/Sylar subplot? Holy shit, it was like watching a redemptive hurt/comfort slashfic play out on national television; at one point I turned to Steve and said: "And then it was either fifty years or possibly only two days later, and they'd been married for forty of them."

And on 24, I'm sort of liking Vlad, possibly only because he's Callum Keith Rennie--though I'm scared in advance for what's going to happen when he works out that Renee's a cop. I don't know, though; actually, he might find it sexy. And a challenge. (Plus, Jack Bauer speaking "fluent" German, as befits his heritage, while wearing boxy nerd-glasses. Oh, I'm easy to please.;))

Very nice! I remember being a kid, and sort of envying the long nipples on those sexy witches from the Durer illustrations. Then that reminds me how much I still "need" a copy of the Criterion Haxan, and I get all sad.

Quite the contrary.

Thank you. We should hook up sometime soon--you, me, Steve and Andrew, as per. Just to be specific.

I've read that Peter/Sylar hurt/comfort fic. Several times. How did it get into the actual show??? O.O

Maybe the boxy nerd-glasses are what enables him to speak German, rather like wearable Babelfish.
