Went back over the last couple of chapters of A Book of Tongues, too, trying to hammer out an accurate profile of where Chess is, exactly, at the end of that whole stagecoach-wreck. I'd vaguely thought about doing a time-jump, say a year in the future, so that we could emerge into a startlingly different world of cults and anti-cults, but...no, I think that'd risk losing momentum, and I need to capitalize on all Chess's immediate vengeance-bent energy, before cutting the legs out from beneath him and showing him how counterproductive it is. Like I said to sovay, a big part of this book has to be about Chess being forced to take responsibility for the fact that all he ever creates is collateral damage, deal with his various Bad Mommy/No Daddy issues, and damn well grow up--in and around the whole "saving the world as we know it" part, of course. As ever.

Also: It's official--Monday (not Tuesday), I go into the hospital. 11:30 AM. Which should be real fun, coming as it does immediately after a day-long trip to Sudbury and back, but fuck it, such is the kingdom. It's in motion, and by this time next week...

Etc.

I love "blackest crow" so much. I sing it to myself in the woods, imitating her. I just love her voice and how she sings it.

Will you be in overnight? How long will your recovery be? .... Ouchie....

[identity profile] handful-ofdust.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'll be in overnight. Recovery time goes like: Two weeks in bed, one month 'til my bandages come off, three months 'til I can raise my arms above my head, six months 'til I can get pregnant, one year 'til they look roughly the way they'll look for the rest of my life (God wiling and the creek don't rise).

I'll upload the other tracks and add links sometime over the weekend, hopefully. 'Cause I can do that, now.

Six months til you can get pregnant? Oh, because the hormones would be trying to do things to the tissues as they were recovering, I guess?

Are there levels and levels of breast reduction? I mean, I guess they have to tailor what they do to the person, right? But some people might only want a little bit of a reduction and others might want a whole lot. So is your surgery really radical reduction or just somewhat?

At the moment, I've got 38Is. Where I'd like to end up (and where he's told me I will, after the swelling goes down) is with 38Cs. You have to take proportion into account, so although it'd be nice to be, say, an A of some type, it ain't likely to happen and wouldn't look good if it did. But what I really look forward to is simply being able to go into a store and buy comfortable bras off the rack for relatively normal amounts of money. To not have to shop specialty ALL the time, or only wear XXL above the waist.

It's official--Monday (not Tuesday), I go into the hospital.

I'm sure I'll talk to you before them, but be well.

Good luck!

Ignore the guy in my icon. Or be inspired by him, whichever works.

Did you make one for Book of Tongues?

[identity profile] handful-ofdust.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I did...it's changed a bit since the beginning, but it's still in rotation. Email me, and I'll send you the list.
