Well, my brand-new official Gemma Files homepage, Music at Midnight (created with Blogger, because I'm a Luddite) is now a go, here (http://musicatmidnight-gfiles.blogspot.com/). It comes attached to two more places: Dark is Better, where I'll eventually archive my uncollected fiction and also post new, unpublished fiction, too (http://darkisbetter.blogspot.com) and a direct link to the entire text of "The Emperor's Old Bones" (https://sites.google.com/site/theemperorsoldbones/), which I'm essentially offering as a litmus test: Do you like Gemma Files, Y/N? Because let's face it...if you read that and hate it hugely, I am most probably not for you, y'all. So bye-bye, and fly fly.

Anyhow. I need to go to bed--tomorrow, it's take Cal to Surrey Place, then mail the monster off to various people. Still 20,000 words over, but hell--as Steve points out--that's just a potential 1,000 to cut from each of its 22 chapters. Getting other people's fresh perspectives will really help with that, though, I can only think.

Looks nice; I'll have to do that complicated thing you can do to make a non-LJ thing appear in your friends list, so I can keep up with your posts there.

Well, I'll cross-post entry announcements with direct links, so you could always do it that way.;)

Thanks! Like I said, Luddite. I'm just glad I was eventually able to figure out how to navigate both systems.

Cool! I shall add it to the list of non-LJ things I read . . .

Two Things

(1) I'd be very careful about posting unpublished fiction anywhere online--speaking as a 'zine publisher, small press publisher & writer in general who enters competitions--a HUGE number of contests won't let you enter them if your work has appeared online, even if it's just on your blog. These are the contests that pay $1,000-$5,000 or more in prize money, so, for me, it's worth it not to have unpublished work out there on the nets until it's done the rounds. Unless you are doing something like the web serial you mention--that's a different animal then.

(2) A woman at the Bazaar of the Bizarre bought both your Loonie Dreadfuls because she had read "The Emperor's Old Bones" and said it was one of her favourite short stories. Best thing? She was someone neither Brett nor I had ever met before. A new fan for you! : )

Believe me, the only unpublished fiction I'd be hosting would be the web serial, whatever that turns out to be--I too don't want to deprive myself of any prospective moolah. And the only stories I'm hosting are ones, like "The Emperor's...", that've already been published somewhere (and not on the 'Net, either). Though I'll also be compiling links to things which are available on the 'Net, so that there's a specific point for interested parties to click through and read my stuff easily.

Meanwhile: Very cool! Yes, that story's really the gift which keeps on giving, isn't it?
