Well, I Knew We'd Get Back Here Eventually

Not that this is going to make much sense to people who haven't read the earlier parts of the book, but--yes, there's going to be yet another sex scene in the third section of A Book of Tongues. From the very beginning, I've been vaguely flirting with the idea of hooking Chess up with Ed Morrow, our hapless ostensible "hero"--and yeah, it's going to happen, imminently. But OTOH, I've figured out fairly psychologically valid reasons why it "has" to, and how that's actually going to spur other parts of the plot, so...while it's probably exploitative, it's not as exploitative as it otherwise might be. Not really.;)

Hilariously, my first reaction to this particular twist was to worry that I was slashing my own narrative. Remember, folks--this is already a narrative revolving around a canonically gay guy in a canonical gay relationship, so--what? But then again, I guess I am threatening to extend my OTP (Rook/Chess) into an OT3 (Rook/Chess/Morrow). Or at least two pairings, both involving Chess; I'm pretty sure the Rev has no venereal interest in Morrow, aside from in an evilly indefinite, high-on-your-own-magic I'll fuck the whole world! sort of way...

Soooo--there 'tis. And there we go.

I love my damn job.

That is because you rock.

Aw, thank you.;) (BTW, I'm now firmly seeing Morrow being "cast" in my head as...Liev Schreiber.)

. . . damn, you're right.

LOL, slashing your own narrative.

I have to catch up so I can enjoy this new development.

Poor Ed. I knew he'd get sucked in. Or sucked on ...eventually.

Too true! It's the single best method of persuasion Chess knows, after all, aside from a gun to the temple.;)

Hey, I just realized a few days ago my OC is slashing my borrowed characters - at least the tension didn't crank between them until we shifted to her perspective.....

I noticed that! No, seriously, though, I really like where/how this is going. So don't get all caught up in your own psychic entrails--keep writing!;)

Thanks.

Man, writing Young Naive Doc is hard. After this I'm so going back to Old Shellshocked Doc. ; )
