I've said it before and I'll say it again: Some of the worst marriages I've ever been forced to eavesdrop on were between a man and a woman. Some of the best marriages I've ever been lucky enough to get to marvel at have been between two women or two men.

I'm functionally heterosexual (give or take) and married. Got the kid and everything. Gay marriage does not diminish that bond in any quantifiable way, any more than a lack of gay marriage would improve it. Much like the various arguments against marriage between two people of different races, at heart, this seems to be an issue of misunderstanding at best, genuine evil at worst.

My God DAMN, but people can be stupid.

Quite true. For example, you are not married, no one is. Where there was once a life long commitment to having and raising children, there is only the temporary bonds of friendship. So it goes.....

No, I'm definitely married; I intend to stay so life-long, and raise my child while doing so. So...perhaps you should elucidate this position of yours in a journal-entry of your own, because I'm really not sure if we're agreeing or disagreeing.

I think these people who are against gay marriage are the same people who were against whites marrying people of color or just against people of color in general. They're simply trying to justify their bullshit hate by using religion or some half-ass biological explanation that by all the science we know is wrong....but it's still bullshit and it's still hate and they're still on the wrong side of history, imo.

Yeah. And, not to boast, but we Canadians managed to pass laws allowing gay marriage some time back, and society still hasn't collapsed. People can just go see their dying spouses without having to check it past their in-laws and pick up their kids from school even if they didn't carry them physically, or what-not.

Exactly, gay marriage in Canada isn't even news anymore, it's just something that happens, and look! no apocalypse, no flames from the sky!

I think it's hard to say you're against gay marriage without coming off as a bigot or worse. It's not harming anyone.
