And Now It Can Be Told

After my week of nuttin', honey, and my vague birthday plunge into what-the-fuck-have-I-done-with-my-life-ville, today is my seventh wedding anniversary, and...last night, I got some amazing, probably life-changing news:

ChiZine Publications (CZP) is buying A Book of Tongues, on the strength of Chapters One to Seven. I'm signing the contracts next week; they need a full manuscript by November. And whatever else happens, because it's CZP, I therefore know the cover will be brilliant.

So--today I jumped right back on the horse, and floored that fucker: 1,039 words into Chapter Eight, pedal to the metal. Because I guess I maybe don't suck. And I guess I also know what I'll be doing for the rest of the year.;)

Late to the party, as per usual. Holy fuck, Gemma. You must be buzzing with excitement. I'm so happy for you-- you absolutely deserve this. As a lamewad who doesn't understand publishing-- what could this mean for you??

At the worst, it means I have an actual novel out there, published--and that's pretty good! But the big thing is being forced to finish this project, in a lot of ways...hopefully, it'll break the logjam in terms of longer-form stories, and open up a new phase of my career.
