Man, I slept a long, long time today. Again, I choose to put it down to weather and lack of light, rather than--say--depression, though I'm sure there's a shade of that hovering in there, too.

Last night's Idol was tainted somewhat by what I see as the unreasonable tide of A) inappropriate Danny Gokey hate (what do you think, ladies, he killed his fucking wife so she could serve as a prop to help him win American Idol? What an evil and masterful plan!) vs. B) almost-as-inappropriate Adam Lambert love (guess what? That "brilliant" cover of "Ring of Fire" he did was better done by Universal Hall Pass, and he is NOT the second friggin' gay coming, so get over yourselves). What annoys me about this particular fannish paradigm is that I want to like Adam, though he sometimes makes it hard, and don't want to feel bad about liking Danny, either. Perhaps as a result, however, the person who actually came off looking best in the end was Kris Allen, aka "who?", thus confirming it was a damn lame show overall. The judges also frankly seemed to be on drugs (not just Paula, as per usual), especially when they chose to spend five whole minutes ragging on Allison Irahita's clothes.

Meanwhile: Still not clockin' those words. Has the well run dry? I think I'll go watch the rest of Silent Hill, eat something, and not worry about it.

BTW: It's Autism Awareness Month in the States, as well as Poetry Month. I may post some of the latter later on, and not necessarily my own. As for the former--yes, I Love Someone With Autism. But then again, he's half me and half the guy I love/married, so I can't really help it.;)

Huh, speaking for myself I haven't been sleeping so great lately or making much progress on writing. I hope it's a passing phase for both of us!

Oh, I'm sure it will be. And you did three stories in three days, too...I've never done that. Though I'd like to.;)

Oh, man. What? Someone ripped off Universal Hall Pass on American Idol?

Yup. Look it up on Youtube. Lambert's ultra-theatrical, the arrangement isn't great, and though he has a good voice, it really does sound better when sung by A) a chick or B) Johnny Cash. But he's cute, out, proud, and better yet, he's not a Ghoulish Widower! So that's enough, apparently, for lots and lots of Idol-fixated ladies.

Yup. Look it up on Youtube.

I did. That's kind of surreal. He has an impressive falsetto—not Sparks-level, but it got my attention—but I'd still rather listen to Universal Hall Pass.

I sent you Splashdown's "Ironspy," yes? The band Melissa Kaplan was in before Universal Hall Pass. My e-mail has kind of self-destructed recently, so I have no way to look up what I have or have not inflicted on people.

Someone, stop my hands from shaking
Iron in my spine's conducting lightning
Raging anger—yeah, you've never been truly mine
But if you were, yes, if you were
I wouldn't want you anyway . . .

But he's cute, out, proud, and better yet, he's not a Ghoulish Widower!

. . . don't want to ask . . .

You didn't, either of them...but wow, yeah. Those are great.;)

The thing which annoys me the most about the whole "Adam Lambert is so brilliant" trend is that two seasons ago, when Chris Daughtry yoinked Live's arrangement for a cover of "I Walk The Line" and didn't point it out afterwards, he got shit on from a height and called a big faker. (OTOH, David Cook certainly got away with yoinking-without-reference Chris Cornell's cover of "Billy Jean", last year, but hey...everybody likes David Cook. Including me.;))

P.S.: The Ghoulish Widower is what people call Danny Gokey, because he had the bad taste to have a wife who died shortly before he tried out for AI, and yes, he mentioned it during auditions/Hollywood Week (as you might as well, were you both recently bereaved and a church music teacher who genuinely maybe believes that there's a point to singing uplifty crap like "Hero" and "Jesus, Take the Wheel")...a bit too often for some fans' tastes, apparently. Because none of the chicks with kids ever mention them, right? Just like Scott the Blind Guy never occasionally happens to mention the fact that he's blind.

but wow, yeah. Those are great.

Welcome! I have three or four CDs of Sparks on loan from [livejournal.com profile] bobcolby, but I seriously need more Splashdown. I played "Ironspy" for a week straight after I discovered it.

Everyone likes Live and no one knows from Universal Hall Pass? I dunno.

P.S: Gyah.
