Really good wordage since this morning on A Book of Tongues, as follows--

Words added: 953
Chapter Seven thus far: 5,193 words
Words overall: 36,341

In other news, Cal's wackiness last night was actually the result of him sickening for something--he has a slightly streamy nose, the beginnings of a rash-'stache, and is still prone to fits of babbling, scat-singing, frenzied jump-dancing and flumping. Nevertheless, Rod says he was surprisingly amenable to work with, which I suppose bodes well for the people at the Geneva Centre tonight. Hopefully, Steve will be home in time to take him (like he semi-promised he would); if not, I can do it. No biggie.

So...I do have a very real sense that I might be able to break the chapter's back, maybe even by later tonight, if I'm only allowed enough time to. OTOH, I also know I need to up my workouts this week, considering I'll be at Ad Astra all weekend, which means some time on the treadmill may well be in order later on even if Steve comes through. At least I have my brand-new Secret Six-themed playlist to do it to:

12 Ghosts II--Nine Inch Nails
How Soon is Now?--Snake River Conspiracy
Adrenaline--Gavin Rossdale
This Tornado Loves You--Neko Case
No You Girls--Franz Ferdinand
On the Verge--Monster Magnet
Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts--Wolf Parade
Black Hearted Love--PJ Harvey and John Parrish
Champions of Nothing--Matthew Good
Victory--PJ Harvey
Where Is Everybody?--Nine Inch Nails
There's No Way Out of Here--Monster Magnet
Love Lockdown--Kanye West
People Gotta Lot of Nerve--Neko Case
Followed Her Around--Ian Rankin
Saint of Me--Rolling Stones
Zero-Sum--Nine Inch Nails
Lux Aeterna Remix--Clint Mansell

Man. You know, I really do understand the appeal of a Suicide Squad movie--I'd watch it just for Amanda Waller alone, especially if they cast her right (with CCH Pounder, for example). But if they don't put at least some of the Secret Six member besides Deadshot in there when/if they actually do it, I'm going to be mega-pissed. My Australian connexions aside, Captain Boomerang vs. Scandal and Knockout? No effin' contest.

The Secret Six are cool and all, but they work best on the fringes as bumbling fuckups who are surprisingly competent when the chips are down and they have to improvise (which is often).

Suicide Squad movie? Deadshot, Cap'n Boomerang, Bronze Tiger, Plastique, and a bunch of expendable supervillains whose sole purpose is to die.

I'm not sure "bumbling fuckups" is the first phrase that'd come to mind, though I do think they get in each other's way as much as they don't--part of that whole "bunch of incredible bastards/selfish people haphazardly attempting to work together" thing. Plus, I think Ragdoll does a lot of the weird shit he does on purpose, rather than accidentally.

Nevertheless, I'm with you on Plastique, at least. If you aren't going to give us Northstar and Aurora anytime soon, we need at least one Quebecois character onscreen (outside of Quebec, that is).

Yoikes. I owe comments. I have read Chap. 6, but I need to re-read and analyze.

I'm escaping my house to clear my mind of cobwebs. That should speed up the process.

Also, hopefully Jackson and Bas should get busy soon. Thought you should know.
