Inevitable Watchmen Fic List

As with most “new” fandoms, Watchmen has been spawning fic left and right, much of it…not so good. The exceptions:

For those seekin’ da sex: "Life or its reverse", brief Dan/Laurie/Rorschach OT3, after-canon A/U, here (http://theonlytwin.livejournal.com/7768.html#cutid1), plus a similarly A/U long, satisfying Dan/Rorschach (or, as the kids called it, “owlblot”) series—“Ordinary World”, “Exiles”, “Empire”—which can be found here (http://i-am-your-spy.livejournal.com/2610.html). Also well worth your time: “Alphabet”, Adrian Veidt gen (http://seriousfic.livejournal.com/216877.html#cutid1) and “Nobody Gets Out”, Rorschach gen (http://sharpest-rose.livejournal.com/1024586.html#cutid1). Neither really “has” to be AU, though the second definitely is in canon; kudos to Mary, champion of girls in refrigerators everywhere, for this slightly more joyful reimagining of the source text.

And finally—so, yeah, there’s this thing called “Girl!schach” going around…but this is the only person who’s gotten it right, so far, IMNSHO: “My Body is a Cage” (http://conceptofzero.livejournal.com/6368.html). Ah, Wanda Kovacs—not a comfortable person to be around, let alone to be, in any incarnation.

Amended to add: theonlytwin has updated with "Five Times They Had to Hide", here (http://community.livejournal.com/watchdom/182661.html#cutid1). Still lovin' it.

I'm just happy to be reaping the harvest, believe you me.;) Thanks.

Nobody gets out: awww....

Life or Its Reverse Love the sort of grim domestic comedy of this - and though i've never been in as 3way relationship, I suspect "sometimes all the goddamn limbs just get in the way and she wants the bed to herself" is pretty realistic.

What I love is how it perfectly fulfills what I've always considered the typical parameters of most poly relationships: One person (Dan) as the fulcrum between two people (Laurie, Rorschach) who wouldn't normally want anything to do with each other...but, in the best-case scenario, can come to appreciate each other anyhow (mainly for/through the affection they both share for fulcrum-person). It's like math, except with sex!

Also, did you read the steampunk versions of Prof. Dreiburg and his associate Mr. Kovacs vs Jack the Ripper?

Wah! No, I missed that one completely. Holy CRAP, that's both funny and creepily effective.

Everything really does go better with steampunk, doesn't it?
