Lilim scriptment (56 pages) = 17,286 words of D-O-N-E. 26 days of steady work, give or take. This being all the more impressive when you factor in the fact that I got the idea at the end of not last semester but the semester before…ie, over 38 weeks ago. So THERE, "muses": You are now officially all my bitches! To misquote Jet Li in The One.
And now we take a little break, recoup brain-power, before moving on to the next step—a full script. I need to copy-edit "Villa Locusta" at The Harrow, get ready for Christmas…but this is amazing, guys. This could very well be a good slice of 2007 opening up before me: The new spec I get a new agent with (hopefully), the new project I extend into a book (prospectively) and actually sell (making sure, this time, to be damn certain to put together an entire manuscript, not just the first three chapters). The cornerstone of a brave new Way-of-the-Cheetah writing life.
In other news, Cal—while still sick—is putting together actual sentences. Like: "We are go bed." Or: "Be good!" And whenever you don’t want him to do something and therefore say: "What do you know?", he responds to the inherent "no" in "know" with: "Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!"
Understanding exceeds production, as Mom says; that’s how he’s able to know exactly what I mean when I say: "Okay, enough playing. Put that in your mouth and EAT it." Whether he chooses to obey, though, that’s a whole ‘nother story…
Anyhow, I’m knackered. Gonna dub one more copy of 2006.2, and then me are go bed.
