Ah, yes...well, that makes sense: Apparently, I can’t make polls, because I have a free account. Okay. So here’s the slightly more organized version, cut for the benefit of those who could care less at this point:
Say you came over to my house to watch comedy. Would you be more interested in—
A) Coupling, the British comedy about three men, three women and lots of sex? (The "main" guy is Jack Davenport!)
B) Arrested Development, the American comedy about a family of rich lunatics, most selfish but one well-intentioned? (It’s narrated by Ron Howard!)
C) There is no third comedy choice, because you’re coming to Gemma’s place, not Ste—oh, wait a minute.
Now, say you came over to watch cultish science fiction. Would you be more interested in—
A) Battle of the Planets, because you’re five? (Some episodes also available with Gatchaman equivalents!)
B) Firefly, because you’re the one hardcore cultish science fiction person on earth who’s never seen it? (Serenity hits the big screen soon[ish]!)
C) Doctor Who 9, but not until after next week, when I’ll have the complete run? (No more Christopher Eccleston next season!)
D) Battlestar Galactica 2003, see question B)? (People can say "frack" in it—and, actually, frack!)
Or perhaps you like da creep. Would you be more interested in—
A) Millennium, aka My Name is Frank Black, and I Must See (All the Crazy Shit in Everybody Else’s Head [But I’m NOT Psychic!]).
B) Carnivale, aka Freaks, Geeks and Sideshow Floozies? (Plus Apocalyptic preacher and faith healer types, ‘cause you know you gotta sin to get saved!)
C) The Kingdom, aka No Anteaters Please, We’re Danish Scum? (And if you get that joke, you’re halfway there already!)
D) Ultraviolet, aka No Calling Them Vampires Out Loud, Please, We’re British? (Also with Jack Davenport!)
E) Neverwhere, aka I Went to London Below, and All I Got Was This Kick in the Arse From the Marquis of Carabas? (It’s by Neil Gaiman, with Doctor Who’s oldschool production values!)
And then there’s a huge-ass story well-told, in episodic format—might be real-time, might have cops, might take place over a long temporal canvas, might not. Would you be more interested in—
A) 24, albeit in two twelve-hour chunks?
B) Murder One, forerunner of The Practice, in which Stanley Tucci plays the Devil?
C) The Shield, because damn, it feels good to be a gangsta (even when you’re actually a cop)?
D) Wiseguy, not least because it made (and broke) the slashy imprint mold?
E) Crime Story, because it’s what Michael Mann did between Miami Vice and movies?
F) The Jewel in the Crown, because you like India, even though you have no idea otherwise what the hell I’m talking about?
And now I shut up, and go. Back later with a genuine entry.

Date: 2005-06-22 01:18 pm (UTC)Doctor Who 9 because I haven't seen it.
Tossup between Murder One (oh how I loved that show) or Wiseguy. Actually, if it's the Mel Profit arc, Wiseguy would win.

Date: 2005-06-22 06:08 pm (UTC)Cultish sci-fi: Firefly
Creepy: Carnivale
Episodic big story: Murder One, because it sounds intriguing and I have heard literally nothing about it.

Date: 2005-06-22 09:59 pm (UTC)SciFi: a real toss up, because I never saw any Firefly, and very few Battlestar Galatica, and only saw enough Dr. Who to want a Tom What's-His-Name scarf really badly... (I never was too good at the tv thing growing up, I was a reader for the most part.)
Scary Shit: I said Carnivale last time, because I saw a couple of episodes and they were pretty interesting, but at the time, I didn't realize Neverwhere was from the Neil Gaiman book. I loved the book, and really, really want to see it now. Is it a series, or just a movie?
The Other Stuff: Wiseguy - did somebody say slashy?
It is me Chaplinlover

Date: 2005-06-23 04:58 am (UTC)Sci-Fi: Battlestar Gallactica 2003, even though Callum Keith Rennie is only in the pilot and one ep. I know he's out there somewhere. I'll wait. *G*
Horror: That all looks too scary for me -- would you be holding my hand? *G*
Series: I'd love to see Wiseguy again. I haven't seen it since it first aired. After that, probably 24 or The Shield. Your pick.
