Where We Are Now

handful_ofdustFriday ended up running later than expected, but also being far more fun than expected; turned out that Jason Taniguchi had suddenly-free time to meet up with us and go see Let The Right One In, and that Mom was agreeable with switching her usual Cal sleepover night from Saturday to Friday. So: Done and done, with a fine time had by all. I'm definitely going to move forward on planning "Chorazin" out sometime soon, as work on "Strange Weight" and "Signal to Noise" permit.
Unfortunately, though, the other good Friday news--ie, the fact that my period finally started--has been kicking my ass somewhat, ever since. Both today and yesterday included long, contortive stays on the toilet, followed by exhausted naps; stuff got done, but nothing too fascinating/creative, and we also managed to blow through most of Steve's paycheque buying faaascinating shit like (um) socks, bras, food, etc. Meanwhile, Cal's been his starting-to-be-typical weekend self, ie crazy as a bedbug. I really think the lack of a strict schedule freaks him out, and that we need to make sure the weekends are at least as regimented as his weekdays. But it's hard--Steve wants to take it easy, and I have a million piled-up "big" chores to deal with, aside from everything else I normally do on Saturday and Sunday (which never includes writing, BTW, though it can include reading).
Anyhow. In semi-interesting news of the week, my Dad finally got his long-in-development miniseries on the Canadians who were sent to Australia after the Upper and Lower Canada Rebellions done as a radio play--way to get around the prospectively prohibitive budget--and I might (might) have some TV work of my own in the offing, if I play my cards right. I also desperately need to find out WTF is going on with the TFS; are they re-opening, or what? Am I in on that? And re-apply for UI, too. Every little bit helps.
Okay: Drugs, winding down. It's back to JK tomorrow, and back on the horse.
