June Means Atkins

Cal was up and down, yelling passionately, every two hours or so last night. We finally had to bring him into our bed, and even then, he didn't really improve. He never does this, so I was unprepared, and remain worried. Perhaps this is God's way of kicking me in the ass.
Meanwhile, Steve will be out of town tonight, probably until 9:00 or so: A friend's father died, so he and Peter are going to Aurora to view the body. And probably going up again tomorrow night for the funeral mass, which I suppose I shouldn't begrudge him, but do. He just has this wonderful way of finding reasons to disappear, sometimes.
Okay, what else? On the "good" side of things, two of my GST refund cheques came, to the tune of over $1,000; they owe me one more, plus my tax refund, which means we're not broke for fucking once. On the "bad"...I didn't get into The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror this year, and the Atkins is causing annoying, debilitating changes in my digestive system, and I'm having serious energy flags (probably because I switched to decaf coffee for the Induction period). I watched the Veronica Mars pilot last night, albeit sidelong, and wasn't too impressed; the people in it seem inappropriately/unamusingly eccentric on a very unlikely scale, and the way everyone always calls her by her entire name is already getting RIGHT up my nose: Why don't you go see the Wizard, Veronica Mars? Why don't YOU go take a flying fuck at a rolling donut, idiot Police Chief guy?
Then again, the snark ain't exactly my friend, suprisingly--see my comment on Cordelia, lo these many moons ago. So perhaps I will just take a gentle pass, and perhaps nobody on the face of the earth will care. Saves me from having to care about another not-written-by-me continuing narrative, anyways.
Okay, well. I'm sure I've got things to do...and in conclusion--
Q: Will there be smut today?
A: No. There will not.
--Goodnight and thank you, whoever.
