No, the (very boring) real answer: I'm forty now, and that was taken when I was thirty; I weigh more, because I hadn't had a kid back then; I've been ill for what seems like a fucking year, and I feel like I look like Hell; I usually wear my glasses. But the hands-down best thing I've seen in the last ten years is still Brad Anderson's SESSION 9, an unrecognized classic in the making.

Aw! Thanks, man. I remember coming out of a screening some years back--a revue cinema screening attended by exactly four people; me, Steve and another couple. We came out into the rain, and the other couple came up behind us, and I turned around and smiled at them, all ready to go: Wasn't that GREAT? Only to hear the chick says to the guy: "That was the most boring movie I ever saw."

At which point I thought: Yeah, and YOU're the dumbest person I've ever met. But I don't feel like I have to ANNOUNCE that fact.

Great interview. I have to surf with images off because of dial up speed, so I couldn't see the inaccurate black and white.

Session 9's one of the creepiest things I've ever seen. Amazing pacing. And proof that once upon a time, David Caruso could act. What else could you ask for?

You also got a very complimentary review of "Mrs. Margery Lovett, Her Book" by someone who was inspired to look up Alexander Pope, but doesn't seem to have recognized Sweeney Todd from a hole in the head. Congratulations?

Yeah, wow, that's...really odd. I sort of feel like I should email her and point out that the Pope reference was considerably more tenuous, but...well, what the hell. At least she enjoyed it.

I have had reviews (and rejections, but the positives are the ones that really make me blink) that have gotten the allusion or underlying folklore one hundred percent wrong; I never have any idea what to do with them. Say thank you and wonder what the inside of their head looks like?
