Whoo!

And after all that agonizing...

"The Jacaranda Smile" has placed, finally, with Michael Kelly, who'll use it in an upcoming anthology called Apparitions. This frees me of the immediate burden of finishing "each thing...", since Apparitions was the same market I'd originally pitched it to, but A) it's not like I'm not still going to finish it, and B) that's just fine!;) Fastest acceptance I've ever had, not to mention the best news I've received in weeks. Plus, it also brings my current talley of stuff sold in 2008 up to two short stories, one poem, and counting...

Man, I really should have a great shit happening, kick up your heels, rejoice!-type icon for moments like these, I guess. Though I'd use it so seldom, maybe it's not worth the overall bother.;))

Still: Yeah, baby! Yeah!

Of course, now I get to worry about how pissed off my Dad and his significant other will be once it's published, and they discover it stars thinly-veiled versions of themselves...but then again, forget that noise: Chances are, they'll never even run across it.;)

Yeah! What you said! Be proud of it and that it's published! They'll get over it, soon enough. It's a major accomplishment that you have it published...! Good for you.

I wrote a short story a few years ago, knowing that it was my father and I outright, but a lot kinder than what we really are. I worried the hell out of myself, while sending it on the submission rounds. My husband said, after he read it, "He's not going to even see it, so why are you worried?"

Those words helped put things into perspective for me. It's not published yet, but I've stopped worrying what people think of what I write. I, as you, write what I write. Even when loved ones are subjects, don't you think that they're great inspirations for even greater stories?

I do. This is awesome, my friend. :+)

Thank you! Yes, I'm (as you may have guessed) very enthused.

I did! Thanks a lot. I'm definitely going to use it, whenever I next get the chance to post some Charlie/Ben.

Fairly quickly, actually--I think the TOC has to be finalized by October. And thanks; this one's very dear to my heart, scary in lots of different ways. I'm very happy with his response to it, along with the placement itself.
