Friday Night Writes (Steve!)

I think I may be getting a cold, which sucks big-time. But Mom is under considerably more stress re her move, and Steve has been roped into helping her with it, so it seems pretty pissy of me to complain. Therefore:
A) I finally posted another chapter of Last Things today...probably out of sequence, but damn it, I needed to post. And tomorrow, in between everything else, I'll write more.
B) I haven't seen an actual movie in an actual movie theatre for upwards of a month now. I'm utterly desperate to see Eastern Promises, and I really hope The Orphanage is coming soon/doesn't suck once it gets here.
C) In the meantime, I did rent and watch some other stuff, including the Ray Winstone BBC version of Sweeney Todd...no singing, just as close to "the truth" as one might hope to get. It's Hogarthian and wrenching and oddly sweet/sad like Purcell's "Dido's Lament", and I really loved it. It makes me want to write poems from Mrs. Lovett's POV, too; must file that away somewhere, for the nonce.
D) Just going by a quick search I did earlier tonight, there now are a hell of a lot of little fangirls who think Hannibal Lecter is sexycoolneat-o. It's like he's passed straight through Harris's weird reimagining of him as Dracula and metamorphosed into a Goth-y manga-character, or something. Check out Youtube if you don't believe me--search around for the classic Hannibal Lecter/Clarice 'shipper vid for "Uninvited", then compare it to a Young Hannibal/Anakin Skywalker vid somebody else did to David Usher's "Black Black Heart". Similar recommendation: "I Want my Innocence Back", from a song by (Lucie August?), which actually plays better in three minutes than Hannibal Rising did in 90.
Aaaand...scene.
