It's not even ironic--it's the sort of thing I always half-expected to (but hoped wouldn't) happen. I liked Steve Irwin. Yeah, he sort of made Australians look bonkers, but taken as an individual, he was an enthusiastic, funny guy who really cared about wildlife.
