So is this the reverse of the “protagonist privilege” people (probably not the same people) were complaining about last week? “The movie adaptation gives the time of day to characters other than the romantic leads, boo hiss.” Actually, when you think about it, one of the myriad ways a movie differs from a book is that you can’t, in the theatre at least, skip over the scenes that don’t interest you – though since this fuss is over the trailer, it does indeed sound like the anger is over the implication that the director cares about subplots the fans don’t want him/her to…
