Hey, all. Happy Valentine's Day, though the last time I recall mentioning Valentine's in a story it was "Torch Song", and we all know how that turned out (badly, in case you're wondering). And gung hay fat choi on the start of Metal Tiger Year, too, which I was completely unaware of, 'til I ran into a bunch of drunken gweilo coming back from having dim sum with friends. Fittingly, my Dad is a Tiger; also fittingly, I seem to recall that the last Monkey year was shit on a stick for me, so I can only hope.;) And thaaayattt's abaaaouttt all I gotta say abaaaoutt thaaayattt, so on we go.

Steve and I have been spending most evenings catching up on Fringe Season One, which I managed to hook on DVD from Rogers recently for surprisingly little money--and yes, its status as "most improved" show of the last couple of years remains undimmed, especially tracing the incredible arc from the desperate crap which was 1:02 to later ep.s like "In Which We Meet Mister Jones" and "Ability". I also find that I've conceived a weird liking for Sanctuary, in all its similarly cheesy glory--it is pretty securely female-driven, after all, and you just don't see that too often. Sadly.

And otherwise...otherwise, otherwise. Still trying to gestate those Book of Tongues character sketches I was talking of previously, which is useful in its own way, since it makes me think about who people are and why they do the things they do, and why I stubbornly persist in loving them, even so. A lot of Chess's behavior, for example, can be explained if not forgiven by noting that he is still very young--his mother English Oona's too, in an odd way. Reverend Rook has far less excuse, though he is shaking off the after-effects of a lifetime spent quoting the Bible at shit in a vain effort to make it go away.

Oh yeah, and THIS is fun: Rumors about an international treaty being currently hammered out which would "fight" copyright infringement by making it so that if you were accused (not even convicted) of file-sharing three times, you could be banned from the Internet for life. As I said to Mom: "Well, that's some Draconian shit, right there. And they're going to lose, um...everybody, basically, within the first three months." I mean, I'd say only maybe 20% of the stuff on my iTunes library isn't burnt material, one way or another--and that includes stuff I've actually paid for. Yet I'm not exactly Captain Jack Sparrow, here...just a chick with high-speed.

Interesting times, y'all. Valentimes.

I may be back later, to break the law with a love-oriented playlist. Or...maybe not. Maybe tomorrow.;)

Amended to add: All notes on the not-Pandorum story (henceforth to be referred to as "Distant Dark Places") inputted, to a word-win of 644. On to the rest of my built-up scribblings.
