My problem with Gaston isn't that he's an incredible douche, because he's A) perfectly happy to be so, apparently and B) pretty funny while being so, though not so much when he's threatening to extort a woman into marrying him by having her father forcibly committed. My problem is that for him to be the Biggest Bad of the story, all the villagers have to think he's as much the shit as himself does and go along with his shenanigans, and that simply ends up making them look like idiots, thus putting me in the regrettable position of cheering when a bunch of inanimate objects beat up people so apparently devoid of intelligence it's a wonder they can tie their own shoes. And I like to think I'm a better person than that...but apparently not.;)
Totally with you on the fight with the wolves, though--it's like the movie snaps alive! And Belle's opening song is what caused Cal to imprint on the film in the first place, so yeah, that's totally worthwhile. (He also loves the "Prince Ali" song in Aladdin, and seems to be warming up to "Never Had a Friend Like Me".)
