Well, it's a bit like Batman and Superman--yeah, Clark's a great guy, and all--you share a common goal, you trust each other with your lives, you're closer in many ways than you could ever be with anybody else, because each one of you is a species to yourself (Robins excluded). But...he's not really human. And you always want to have a bit of Kryptonite around--not that you'd use it, necessarily. Unless you had to.
