Still pecking/hammering away at Chapter 3 of "Death To Everyone," mainly because my brain keeps moving the goal-posts. A lot of the next section is about Woodbury's literal Five-Year Plan, about Rick trying to steer Philip away from Meghan and Lilly Chambler (ostensibly for their sakes, though he figures out himself there's a hefty dose of dog-in-the-manger syndrome going on as well), about Haley giving Rick some extremely unwelcome "good" news and him eventually coming to terms with it, etc. There will also be a hefty dose of Rick going a little crazy, as he intermittently does when trying to reconcile input he doesn't like, with Shane Walsh making an appearance as bad shoulder-angel, whispering in Rick's ear even when the Governor's murmuring in the other.

So that's a fair deal to juggle, probably a couple of chapters' worth, but I have to get it all in order before I can take it from rough outline to full treatment. Doesn't help I've made at least 3,000 words' worth of extra notes on all of this, either, but that's the way it goes.

In the interim, meanwhile, here's some of the music I've been writing to. Call it A Wonderful, Terrible Idea: Rick Grimes/The Governor:

Death To Everyone, by Bonnie Prince Billy (https://app.box.com/s/6ktzn98nstkz9gn6w2y4)

every terrible thing
is a relief
even months on end
buried in grief
are easy, light times
which have to end
with the coming
of your death friend

Evil Ways (Justice Mix), by Blues Saraceno (https://app.box.com/s/gi03gnv7nwxi4heagbg4)

But I found out
As hate grows cold
That god'll rise up
And damn my soul
'Cause I ain't changed...
So I won't hide

Take Me To Church, by Hozier (https://app.box.com/s/l14f6n9q5ikb8g6prfxu)

I was born sick,
But I love it
Command me to be well...
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life

Get Hurt, by the Gaslight Anthem (https://app.box.com/s/99n4cxsa1gn9ckeivloh)

Once I could tell all the hurt apart from myself
Now all I can see is the need, the need that
I came to get hurt
Might as well do your worst to me
Have you come here to get hurt?
Have you come to take away from me?

No Children, by the Mountain Goats (https://app.box.com/s/54r42yjuboite6tp9335)

I hope that our few remaining friends
Give up on trying to save us
I hope we come out with a fail-safe plot
To piss off the dumb few that forgave us...
I am drowning
There is no sign of land
You are coming down with me
Hand in unlovable hand

Running, by Delta Spirit (https://app.box.com/s/oi7o4jxep0hx8u755xps)

With a gun against my head
Gun against my head
I hold myself hostage
With a gun against my head
You'll know
I'm done
When I'm done
When I come running
When I come running
To you

Broken Crown, by Mumford and Sons (https://app.box.com/s/8an8jmy0aoh8vpiri7tb)

So crawl on my belly 'til the sun goes down
I'll never wear your broken crown
I can take the road and I can fuck it all away
But in this twilight, our choices seal our fate

Numb, by Marina and the Diamonds (https://app.box.com/s/drzy1su4q78vqw09r9w8)

Forgo family, forgo friends
It's how it started, how it ends
I can't open up and cry
'Cause I've been silent all my life
I feel numb most of the time
The lower I get the higher I'll climb
And I will wonder why
I got dark only to shine

Smother, by Daughter (https://app.box.com/s/ygen6qgggvu3x6jzyo7m)

I’m wasted, losing time
I’m a foolish, fragile spine
I want all that is not mine
I want him but we’re not right
In the darkness I will meet my creators
And they will all agree, that I’m a suffocator

Our Hell, by Emily Haines and the Soft Skeletons (https://app.box.com/s/c9gj8inj0bqvcm14r8ar)

There's a pattern in the system
There's a bullet in the gun
That's why I tried to save you
But it can't be done

Extra (not Rick/Philip related): Here's my favourite song from last session, now that choir's begun again--the equally doomed and desperate Ukrainian ode "Oj Zijdy Zijdy," by Echo Women's Choir. If you already know what I sound like, you can probably hear me in this, because I'm pretty effin' loud; enjoy, either way. (https://app.box.com/s/5hdwrdsil5jeyt5mvrxt)
