On & On & On
Nov. 8th, 2011 10:47 amI keep forgetting to input my metrics for NaNoWriMo; then again, I think I'm probably doing it wrong anyhow. But I'll try and do that again today, just for giggles.
The good news is that with a massive push over the weekend, sick or no, I managed to finish both Chapter Eight and Chapter Nine. Today will therefore be devoted to preliminary shaping on Chapters Ten, Eleven and Twelve, which I hope to finish sometime (early) next week. Once those are done and integrated into a single file (along with the Chess and Oona in Hell sections I'd already written), then "savage Weapons" wil be officially finished, and I can move on to "The Sixth World"--the Book Three header, Massive Chapter Thirteen, plus all two and a half parts of the Epilogue, one of which will be the usual scene-setting medley of headlines/letters/dispatches/article-excerpts.
In terms of the sickness report, my head is still officially stuffed with crud; I blow and blow, but it rarely dislodges much, and last night was an epically rotten one for sleep. (Cal, by comparison, went down really easily and stayed there, thank God. Steve helped with this process a lot by availing himself of the Closed Captioning option while watching Castle, for which I'm eternally grateful, and I retreated to the bedroom where I put in my headphones.) I also have a massive canker sore inside my lip, in the usual place for PMS/stress, which is causing me a lot of pain. I try to think of it as clarifying, rather than wearing.
Otherwise: Got the inside flap "warnings" list for Tree of Bones done. This goes well with the official cover, which is indeed gorgeous. And I also sprang the prediction that this book will outstrip the 100,000 words mark on CZP, an idea to which they were surprisingly amenable. I assume this is because they're doing well enough to be able to support greater page-lengths, which rocks.
Said list, if anyone's interested, would go thusly:
Warning: This Book Contains—
The Rookeries of London
“Your Mama”
Orphic Night-Journeys
Confrontations with the Dead
Dispatches from the Front
A Negro Brigade
Blood-Letting Cults
Arcanistry vs. Thaumaturgy
Vessel-Grooming
Filthy Butcher-shop Diablerie
Dogs with Human Hands
Mysterious Paternity
Harsh Penitence
Katabasis
Childbed Horror
Made to Order: One Star-Demon
Ectoplasmic Consultation
Crimes of War
Battlefield Rescues
Giant Spider!
Gods Inside of Gods
Balance Restored
A Neutral Zone
Closure (Of Sorts)
Annnd, party in the back: Done. Back to the business in the front portion of my life, with extra laundry/coffee.
