Nice five maple leaf review of A Book of Tongues, here (http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Book-Tongues-Volume-Book-One-Gemma-Files/9780981297866-605596-Review.html).

Definitely feeling exponentially better than yesterday and the day before, though I ended up falling asleep around 9:00 PM last night, then waking at almost 2:00 AM and (of course) staying up 'til 4:00 AM. The good part is that this therefore allowed me to get all the chores which still needed to be done done. The bad (though not unexpected) news is that those chores still needed to be done--ie, that Steve never got around to doing them, in the interim.

On the other hand, my Dad also surprised me by Skyping with me from Australia about half an hour previous to that, so maybe the shock was what knocked me out! It was a good conversation, overall. He's written a new play, which they're doing a reading of on Saturday; sounds like a very commercial property, the sort of circuit piece that people in Sudbury et al might call a real goer. He also told me about visiting the MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart, Tasmania--a collection of odd, challenging, interactive pieces, along with Egyptian mummies and various Meso-American sculptures--which was assembled/paid for by David Walsh, a famously Aspergian professional gambler who's channeled a section of his massive fortune into collecting and curating. Sounds pretty incredible, though the main website is a bit offputting in its lack of definite information.

Today I have Cal at home, because it's a PD day at Surrey Place; Monday, meanwhile, is the end of a long weekend. The final A Rope... .PDF should arrive sometime today. Gonna be interesting.;)

...the odd stuff you find on YouTube: This is footage of my Dad talking about Captain Scarlet--in which he voiced the Captain Magenta marionette--at some convention in Bristol, here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En5k0zCqIEw&feature=related). I remember him telling me he was going to this, but it's still a bit of a shock.

At any rate: If any of you ever wondered what Gary Files looks/sounds like, here ya go. Ie, a bit like me, except A) older, B) a dude and C) Aussie.
