Case in point: Fuan no Tane+, aka “Seeds of Anxiety”, which some brave soul named fungo_squiggly is posting Hallowe’en month scans from over at (strangely) scans_daily. What’s great about these is the same thing that’s great about the very oddest offerings from people like Junji Ito or Edogawa Rampo--that glorious combination of the mundane and the unsettling, with occasional side-forays into “whaaaat the fuckitty fuck hell?!” Very New Weird, long before the term was even coined.
Other fun action on scans_daily this morning includes a preview of Dark Wolverine in which Daken and Mystique flirt over dinner in Miami. After exchanging a bunch of innuendo, she tries to brush him off by saying: “And besides, I’m old enough to be your mother”, to which he just laaaaaughs, because he’s A) a semi-Hewlett, so how could you possibly tell? and B) canonically like 78, or something.
Ah, Daken--stay just the way you are. But seriously, don’t get in the sack with Mystique, because you know damn well you’d end up looking at your Daddy’s orgasm-face in the thick of it... unless, of course, that’s maybe the whole point of the exercise.
Okay, back to the grind.
