400 words. Maybe talk about Barker's "In the Hills, the Cities" as a formative model, and the weirdness of later realizing mainstream horror still has a strict heterocentric default.
A Rope of Thorns (end of November deadline):
Write back-of-book copy and assemble P.R. package (for September 17, aka to-fucking-morrow), with up-to-date author bio and high-res photo that doesn't make me look like an asshole.
Go back over notes as they exist, outline rest of the book as tightly as humanly possible.
Resist urge to trim chapters that are already written.
Write the rest, starting by finishing Chapter Nine.
"[Anasazi]" (November 1 deadline):
Add 2,000 words, bringing it up to 15,000 words overall, to fit novella definition. Dream sequences and/or more haunting action sound best, in terms of lengthening agents.
"Distant Dark Places" (December deadline):
Keep around 5,000 or under. Outline, write.
"Lagan" (January deadline):
Keep around 5,000 or under. Outline, write.
A Tree of Bones (October/November 2011 deadline):
Start outlining NOW; Chapter One due by February, for inclusion in Rope... hardback.
Also:
Cal's birthday (also September 25).
Arrange for apartment reno work (probably November, possibly in two instalments).
Keep on top of Cal's school/Surrey Place stuff (throughout).
