Monday Times Three
Aug. 30th, 2010 11:19 amYet again, out the back of another weekend, and I feel like I did shit-all nothing vs. a million things...that there was very little "weekend" in my weekend, in other words. Yes, I got a new fridge (delivery on Thursday). Yes, I took Cal to his other grandparents'. Yes, I worked out twice (thank God), did my one panel at the Festival of Fear, picked up a bit of stuff (traded a copy of Book for Greg Lamberson's The Frenzy Way and finally met his wife and daughter, both charming; paid $14 for a DVD of Solomon Kane with James Purefoy, from Suspect Video, and $8 for Lee Thomas' The Black Sun Set, from Burning Effigy). On Sunday night Steve and I saw The Last Exorcism, and discovered both seasons of The Hunger on DVD for twenty bucks a pop at the nearby Future Shop--sold, Canadian! Fifteen years and forty bucks later, my collection of stuff I was involved with is complete, and now I can officially get rid of those old videotapes.
But. But but but. I still spent every night contorted, sweaty, waking up feeling back-kicked, often having bent my right or left hand back in my sleep until it started to scream. Cal was still intermittently fun yet consistently nutbar-ish. Steve still kept acting like he was going to pass out at any given second, surfing from one bout of "post-prandial lethargy" to the next. No writing. Paranoia. Bleeding from bad places.
Though all of this needs to change, I don't seem to see it happening anytime too soon.
