Thornsday Already?
May. 6th, 2010 09:57 am...every damn week, apparently. Okay.
As a capper on the whole Diana Gabaldon thing, here's the single most coherent and even-handed (if snarky) thing I've seen thus far (http://scrivenerserror.blogspot.com/2010/05/a505x.html). Oh yeah, and it appears people are compiling a list of names (surprise!), though at least this time 'round it's a positive--"These folks like fanfiction! Support them!"--rather than a negative one, ie the ever-popular: "Avoid at all costs, do not engage, do not give your money to."
If anyone wants to nominate me for said list, feel free; there's a link to it over at Linkspam, on Dreamwidth. Having already stated my policy, and given the factions involved, I've decided I'm staying well out of it.
Otherwise: Surprisingly good work-week, after all. I've clocked 2,976 words on Chapter Five, completing the first two sections, and now have one more to get through before Chapter Six (and Seven?!) bring me to the official end of Book One. Promisingly, the Rope of Thorns file as a whole is almost 44,000 words long, which makes me feel a bit better about my slowness--maybe this whole "thinking things out in advance" thing is finally paying off! Especially when I deliberately suspend my urge to edit until I have a viable first draft.
Okay, back on the clock. If I can get the last section in order and start laying down pipe, I might actually be able to get this one out the door over the weekend, just in time for Mother's Day.
Amended to add: Oh no, wait--there's another list, too, originally put up at FF.net as a Word to the Wise, but being currently data-mined for pattern recognition here (http://jonquil.livejournal.com/984126.html). At least she has the good grace to admit her dissection of it is "ad hominem as hell".
A Rope of Thorns Chapter Five: 629 words added. Yancey and Chess are halfway getting along, which is...interesting. Next up: Slight trance, discussion of red weed, one more knock at the door.
