Moneyday

...not literally, of course--more like "after-money day", really, since Steve was paid on Friday, necessitating the usual maniacal shuffling between accounts to stay even vaguely ahead of the game. But Steve bought himself the Pet Shop Boys' Yes, and I was able to add a reasonably cheap copy of The Hurt Locker to my $9.99 copy of Pandorum. See also: Gently used copies of Surveillance and The Burrowers, for $20.00 inclusive. And Steve bought me a copy of Scott Sigler's Contagious, sequel to Infected, good pulpy fun in which a huge ex-footballer alien possession survivor eventually goes hand-to-hand with a tiny little blonde telepathic six-year-old.

Otherwise, Cal was pretty constantly insane, like he was playing a Mixmaster mash-up of ten different Little Einsteins episodes in his head from morning to night, and I managed to do something to myself in my sleep which meant I woke up this morning with my shoulder swollen to twice its normal size, hurting like a son-of-a-me. I'm not sure how much work I'm going to get done today, consequently, and writing this post probably isn't going to help. Probably doesn't matter much, though; I have to spend the next couple of days looking after my Mom, who's having an elective procedure of her own done. Still, her projected recovery time is much quicker--two weeks--and I think she'll be really happy with the result. 'Nuff said.

Okay: Back to it. I'm trying to break 750, if nothing else.

Amended to add: Hmmm, that was different--the clinic just called me with an update on Mom's status (good), and the lady called me "Jeneema Files". Got the Files part right, at any rate...
