Happily for my health, I've been increasingly "good" about channeling my fannish love for stuff into professional writing rather than fic, and I think it's likely to stay that way--I mean, sure, when I got to the end of The Hurt Locker I went looking for fic, and found some great stuff here (http://archiveofourown.org/tags/Hurt%20Locker%20(2008)/works). But then, almost immediately after that, I started thinking about what a genderflipped version would be like with the serial numbers filed off, prompting yesterday's projected Blue Steel remake. Much like my musings on Sanctuary's "the Five" re-done as a Victorian version of Fox Force Five! (c'mon! Wouldn't you love to see who got cast as Johanna Druitt?), though this seems unlikely to go anywhere, it does keep me warm at night.;)

Otherwise, I'm enjoying eavesdropping (eyesdropping?) on Festivids, which is where vidders are currently exchanging anonymous gifts for each other (http://fv-poster.livejournal.com/19671.html). So far, these include a White Collar vid which genuinely makes it look like Neal, Peter and Peter's wife are about to go off and have a threesome together, vids which encapsulate Doomsday, Pitch Black and The Prestige so gorgeously you could use them as source material on their own, and a Jim Profit vid done to Adam Lambert's "Sleepwalker". Also: 3:10 to Yuma in three minutes and a Criminal Minds vid from the POV of the female victims who got away, confirming there are far more of them than I'd remembered. Yeah!

Otherwise, I'm still stalled on Chapter One, so most of what I'm doing right now involves editing down "Signal to Noise", perhaps in anticipation of finally finishing it. And I'm listening to a lot of old David Bowie (Heathen, Earthling, Outside) and new hotness (Keri Hilson's In a Perfect World, Rihanna's Rated R, Ciara's Fantasy Ride). Next week, I aim to get my glasses prescription adjusted for the first time in three years, and (hopefully) get my passport renewed, along with the renovations: We'll see. But life does go on, in and around the distractions.

"Signal to Noise", finally done: 1,764 words today, for a total of 6,135. Now I just have to figure out where to send it...
