A Book of Tongues: THUD
Aug. 20th, 2009 12:29 pm967 words added. Soooo close now to finally getting Ixchel into the flesh, I can taste it. This chapter is actually far sadder in execution than I'd imagined it being in theory, which feels odd, but interesting; beats predictable and boring, for sure. But who knows? Other people may find it boring beyond belief.;)
In other not-exactly-news, kelpqueen kicked me the True Blood Season One soundtrack, which is just as good as I remember it being. It reminded me that one of the things I love most about the series is A) its musical choices and B) the fact that they try to play whole songs, as opposed to snippets. Reminds me of the bar sequence in Near Dark, which remains my blueprint for how inset music is supposed to function in a movie--by commenting on and augmenting the action, not just setting a mood. (Scorsese's the king of this, undeniably, but his style is far more snippetty and stream-of-consciousness.) Or maybe it all goes back to The Hunger (the film, yo), and its use of "Bela Lugosi's Dead"...
Aaaand: No more time. At least I've already eaten.
Amended to add: H.P. Lovecraft's birthday again, which I had forgotten. I was thinking of writing another poem, if/when I finish this mother--something based on "The Terror at Red Hook" or "Pickman's Model", perhaps. Something ghoulish.;)
