It Is The Night
Mar. 20th, 2009 12:48 pmAll right. Here's something else, instead:
I wake up blind.
I wake up with my heart beating.
I wake up looking for something familiar.
I wake up bleeding.
I wake up wishing I could
sleep forever.
I wake up beside a man who smiles and says
Good Morning.
I wake up deaf.
I wake up full of regret.
I wake up looking for someone to blame
for the fact that my life is
commonplace and solitary.
I wake up wanting to die.
I wake up waiting.
When it is time to dream
I wake up. It is the night,
the real night.
--Susan Musgrave, A Man to Marry, A Man to Bury.
Not exactly cheerful, I know. But hopefully beautiful...and it definitely stops a gap.
