Well. As of today, "When I'm Armoring My Belly" (3,921 words) is officially done--first story of 2008, plus being possibly one of the fastest stories I've written since I was sixteen or so. And yes, it's short enough to enter in the Chiaroscuro/Leisure Books short story contest, though I do wonder whether or not it might be just as smart to wait and see what else comes tumbling out of the ol' brain-box in the interim. This does seem to be shaping up to be a productive year, after all.

Next on the docket: "Imaginary Beauties" needs to get finished, there are The Mercy Seast and Faultline to return to, and I also need to do one more polish on Lilim according to notes I received the other day; since it's effectively my new spec, I need it to be as nice-looking as humanly possible before I start showing it around. Not to mention how I prospectively have somewhere to show it/someone to show it to...

In other news, the apartment smells of mold and we need to figure out what we can do to make that stop, short of paying for the almost $1,000 quote a cleaner gave us today. And tomorrow I only have one class, which is good, but I also have to stick around and present the TFS screenplay award. I'm already so tired I feel drunk.

Okay, so here's a question, for all you cats and kittens out there in I-like-Gemma land--if I were to start doing some sort of monthly digest of flashfic, erotica, short stories, poetry and/or excerpts like Caitlin R. Kiernan does, would you pay for it? How much? Would anybody be interested in helping me lay it out, distribute and/or illustrate it? I need to keep up my output and make some money, even if John keeps claiming he's going to get me a better job.
