Wordcount for Day One
Sep. 1st, 2007 09:08 amWell, the first chapter's nowhere near finished, but I did a fairly respectable 750 words last night. Not bad for A) starting late and B) having to look things up all the time while I did it, because C) it's a completely different scenario than I'd originally outlined, and takes place in 1909.
So here's how it's going to go, from now on: I've created a new LJ for the novel, and when I have a first chapter, I'll post it and link to it from here. People who want to will thus be able to watch me write my first draft, David Wellington stylee. Believe me, this will be a FIRST DRAFT--if I ever get the chance to submit or sell it elsewhere, there will be substantial rewriting. But though (useful) comments are always welcome, said rewriting is not going to start for another 90 days. NB: Please don't look it up in my userinfo and link now, because THERE'S NOTHING THERE YET. Thanks in advance.
Otherwise? Eighth week is finally over, and things are going...I'd say okay. My Film History classes, in particular, seem to have taken a dementedly affectionate liking to me--which is good, because in at least one case, they're going to be seeing a lot more of me. In Fifth Term news, I'm 45 assessed Packages down, and the other members of the quadumvirate are finally starting to catch up. I'm not absolutely sure I've seen everything yet, though; hope to confirm or deny next week. Oh, and I got the preliminary schedule for next semester. The good part is, I'm only working two days a week. The bad part is, I've only got sixteen hours again. (Mom pointed out that this would seem to imply the TFS isn't doing so well, recruitment-wise, to which I said "oh, ya think?" But since I have no control over that at all, fuck it.;))
Today, we see
moon_custafer and
green_trilobite, and I hopefully have a phone conversation about the "Words Written Backwards" cover art. But Last Things is up and running, and that has to be my backbone concern over the next three months. I'm getting something out of it, this time, come (ha ha) Hell or high water.
