Whoah, I'm On Fire!
Aug. 16th, 2006 03:37 amSix days of concentrated work, and here's the result:
"Villa Locusta": Done. Synopsis for Blood from the Air (eight pages!): Done. First three chapters/package: Integrated, polished, sent. And later the same night--ie, tonight--I discover I've finally sold "Heart's Hole" to In The Dark, Stories of the Supernatural, an anthology coming out by mid-October from Tightrope Books. Fi-na-lly: Two whole years after my last time getting screwed by The Publisher Who Shall Not Be Named, this fucker's actually going to see print!
Which brings this year's tally so far up to, um...five stories written, five stories in print (though not all the same stories). So now it's back to school, back to work on "The Jacaranda Smile". Do that final fix-up on By Night. Keep on keepin' on, whatever.;) Because the word's obviously out, from God on down, man--I am HOT.
All right, enough back-slapping. In RL, Cal has really been rocketing forward in terms of speech and reading; he can say "apple" consistently. And (some ever-changing variation on) "circle". OTOH, this also means he's getting very, very definite about what he does and doesn't like--too much time inside makes him stir-crazy, to the extent that when I set the heat alarm off while making pizza for dinner and had to open the front door to get it to stop, he was out into the hall like a frigging shot. Not happy at all when I immediately had to chase after him and drag him back in, either...
Plus, he truly is the hairiest almost two-year-old I've ever seen, especially on his back. Little werewolf boy; it's sort of cute, I guess. And sort of offputting.
Well, I need sleep. Tomorrow is TV show pitches and going over people's proposals (hopefully), followed by the So You Think You Can Dance? finale. Myself, I'm betting on Travis or Benji, but I'd love to be surprised.
