Shed yet more names from my friendslist. Again, this is more in aid of me not spending years at a stretch on the Internet when I provably don't have time to than it is any indication that I don't like you, or something. But fact is, since a lot of you also turn up on the friendslists of people whose friendslists I often surf, we'll definitely meet again. As for reciprocity, please do keep on reading this yourselves if you find it useful (or at least amusing).;)

Tomorrow, I stuff a shitload of massive documents into my schoolbag and then give them out in class, no doubt provoking the usual mighty universal groan. It's Week Four, which means next week is a "break", ha ha. Probably good considering how many projects I need to turn around sharply, but only if I can manage my time better than I have thus far. Still, the To Do list is looking at least a BIT more denuded ever since I finished all my Rue Morgue capsule reviews; now we get to see A) how fast the rewrite notes pour in and B) whether or not I was hideously self-deluded about how many words I had to spend per each. The remaining roster:

1) Knock up an email pitch on Blood from the Air for Don D'Auria at Leisure, send it by Friday. Try to develop back-up pitches for The Speed of Pain and/or "Nobody"-as-novel.

2) Fix the first 20 pages of By Night and send it off to the director, in time for his Wednesday production meeting--ie, tonight. Keep on going, with an eye towards getting the frigging thing done with by early next week.

3) Finish and polish "The Jacaranda Smile", since somebody actually wants to see it professionally.

4) Write a whole new prologue for Blood from the Air, because it just suddenly dropped into my head almost perfectly realized, and the book needs it: A little lost secret history to set the tone, poetic and vicious and filled with my mythology made flesh, rendered immediate in a way that mere exposition-dump can't hope to achieve. I truly believe that if Don decides he wants to see this package, this is the part that'll sell him the rest of the novel/series.

[livejournal.com profile] cristalia: Got "Deer's Heart". That's some severe Tanith Lee on acid revisionist fairytale groove you're working there--naturally enough, I like it a lot. Boy, do I once again feel lucky/guilty.;) But perhaps one day we will work together rather than compete, using our powers for as much literary evil as (in)humanly possible...

All right, already far too much time-wastery. Back to the road-trip.
